Events in Monnickendam
Monnickendam is an authentic IJsselmeer town near Amsterdam. It boasts a beautiful historic center, excellent restaurants, and lovely walking and cycling trails. A trip to the Hemmeland recreation area, the hinterland, Zuiderwoude, Broek in Waterland, Marken, or Edam – anything is possible. An open-air concert will take place in the garden of Het Weeshuis on June 26.
The following weekend, Monnickendam celebrates Jan Haring with the famous Jan Haring Race on July 5 and 6, featuring classic boats in the Old Harbor.
This summer, the Monnickendam Fish Days will be held on Fridays in the town center: July 17, 24, and 31, as well as August 7.
On August 9th and 10th, the open-air cinema returns to the harbor. Last year it was held for the first time (and, due to the weather, in a warehouse); this year it will be shown outdoors (or indoors 😉). A preview is available here.
On September 12th, the “Soundbites” festival takes place in Monnickendam. Four stages in the town center will offer music and street food.
