20-6-2025 – The construction of our harbour has a number of components. We will explain each component separately. The location of the components can be found in the item Hemmeland.

Why do we need a new boat lift?

The boat lift at the Hemmeland location dates from 1991, the year the USSR fell apart, and was in operation for the first time when Bryan Adams’ “Everything I do, I do it for you” was at number 1. This one is therefore truly end-of-life. It is also too narrow for the current generation of boats. The boat lift at Waterland is also getting on in years, runs on rails and can lift a maximum of 18 tons, which makes it less flexible.

How big will the new one be?

The new crane will be a lot wider, the crane hole will be 5.9m wide. In addition, the new one will have a lifting capacity of 30 tons so that almost all boats can be craned. The boat lift drives independently and with four-wheel steering it can go anywhere.

There is always a trade-off between costs and lifting capacity. 30 tons is a ‘sweet spot’, small enough to become profitable, large enough that you rarely have to say no. Only very large steel motor yachts are (literally) left out.

Isn’t this overkill for my sloop/speedboat/RIB?

For smaller boats the boat lift has a separate 2 ton crane. This also functions as a mast crane.

Why not replace it all?

The Hemmeland A and B will remain and the Waterland A and B are still in good condition. Replacing them would be a waste and would not create more space. We also hear from a number of customers that they value the traditional jetties. This way, there is a choice for everyone: floating with finger piers or fixed with back posts.

Electrical?

No. The crane will run on HVO100 and will get one of the most modern diesel engines for low consumption and minimal emissions. The lifting speeds and the service life, especially in cold periods (think winter storage), proved to be insufficient for an electric crane for our needs. You don’t want the crane to stand still because the battery has to charge first.

When will it arrive?

The boat lift is being built at Boatlift IT in Italy and will arrive in early November. We are then planning a limited (winter) storage at the Hemmeland location. You cannot reserve this yet, keep an eye on our website when this is possible.
