We are renovating the sanitary building of the Hemmeland location into a multifunctional building with a harbour office, a washing & dishwashing area, toilets, showers (more spacious!), a disabled toilet/shower and a family shower. The building is already there and is large enough to have these functions.
The old harbour office is right on the border of the new district, we can’t keep using it because it has to be demolished. We also need a few more workplaces than are in the building now, because we do Yacht Service.
This is a renovation so we have applied for the permit after preliminary consultation with the municipality. The permit will fall under the normal procedure and it is expected that it will be issued in June. Behind the scenes we have implemented a house number change (the old harbour office had house number 1, if you demolish that there is no house number anymore), the utilities are all being rerouted (electricity is already ready, fibre optics is still under construction, water is already ready and sewer almost).
The building will be very sustainable. We will insulate the facade and cover it with the wood from the scaffolding that is left over. Some of this wood is already at the “roundabout”. The roof will have more solar panels because it faces due south, the materials that are needed inside will be reused as much as possible from the buildings that we have now and that are going to be demolished. There will be better ventilation in the building and the offices are deliberately facing north.
During the renovation, the toilet building will be closed for as short a period as possible. During this period, the toilets of the Ark (old building) will be open and the showers at Waterland can be used. A code lock will be placed on the door of the Ark with the same code as the launderette of Waterland.
