1985 – Jan and Trees Zetzema begin renting out their own boat, the “Hinde.” Monnickendam becomes the home port for Waterland Yacht Charter.
2002 – They take over the marina in Monnickendam. Jachthaven Waterland develops into a nautical service center with sailmaking, yacht service, crane services, and a restaurant.
2014 – “Slapen op de Haven” (Sleep on the Harbor): two maritime-style rooms and two apartments at the Galgeriet location.
2015 – Their daughter Nienke joins the company. Due to high demand for yacht service among berth holders, Waterland Yacht Service is founded.
2019 – They take over the Hemmeland marina. Nienke and her husband, Kees Wiersema, begin developing the new marina as the two marinas need to be combined.
2023 – Yacht Service opens a second location in Volendam (Strandbad 2) for winter storage and maintenance.
2024 – Chartering will now focus on day boats (Fox 22). The focus will shift to the harbor and expanding yacht services.
2025 – Opening in Uitdam: The Uitdam harbour receives a new boost with improved quays and moorings.
2026 – Hemmeland and Waterland merge at the Monnickendam location. Equipped with new moorings from Sweden, a new boat lift, and a renovated harbor building, this marks a new beginning with over 500 boats at new berths.
